Connecting the Dots

April 18th, 2012

Nothing is a new generation lamp born from a gesture: the first three-dimensional transformation of an electronic circuit. To present it and the three-years long process of development I imagined an installation: Connecting the Dots.
The installation is framed by an innovative structure made with flexible manufacturing technologies -laser cut and 3D powder sintering- and advanced mathematical algorithms, a container that speaks the same language of the product.
The complex triangular net is a graphical representation of the holistic dimension of design. Art, science, technology, mathematics, exhaustive experimentation and the search of poetry, all of which had a part in the evolution process that turned the idea in a product.
With Connecting the Dots I wanted to explore my personal vision of future industrial manufacturing, a vision where cutting-edge technology becomes handcraft.
